Night on the town!

March 31, 2011

First off, thank you all for your comments regarding a running journal!  I haven’t decided if I’m going virtual or old fashioned.  I’ll keep you all updated on what I find out works best for me! :)

Now time for some catch up! Work has been busy.  I have a deadline that has pasted and I’m still not done.  I foresee a VERY busy summer!  I will have to figure out how really time manage well to fit in everything I want to do without losing too much sleeping time!

Having said that, I decided to sacrifice some sleep and get up early yesterday so I could get my 5 miles in.  Dave didn’t run with me.  But it’s ok.  I wanted to go slower today.

Workout Stats:
5 miles
46:16 (9:15 avg pace)

That it was time to add some spice to my life…

Instead of the typical go home after work, eat dinner, and relax watching TV, Dave and a few of my other friends started off the night at Miracle of Science in Cambridge.  I got a veggie burger that had a jalepeno mayo and came with home fries.  It was DELICIOUS.  They mayo definitely had a kick.  I started to sweat-no lie.  But I LOVE spicy food.

Then, we went to the Zechs Marquise and Omar Rodriguez Lopez concert!  The concert was a lot of fun.  We all danced around while enjoying the music.  After, we stopped by Beacon Hill Pub and were disappointed by the basketball shooting game not working!  I was STARVING so I got Hot Fries from the vending machine.  I told you, I love spicy food.  And remember, I LOVE POTATOES!  I would eat the huge bag of these in one sitting. NO LIE.  I swear as a child I had the worst food habits.

Since we wanted some real food, we wandered to Cafe Pompei, where we got pepperoni pizza and I got a rice ball.  I was so tired though, and I only ate about a quarter of it as I was falling asleep at the table.  Luckily, we left and I got ready and headed to bed.  On the other hand, the guys chatted about movies for about another hour until they finally decided to get some shut eye.  Silly boys.

I am going to sleep like a baby tonight!  I took today as my rest day instead of tomorrow.  I’m going to be doing a speed workout!

Do you like spicy food?

YOU BETCHA!  I LOVE spicy food!  Could this be because I love pain?  I mean I put myself through a marathon-maybe my tongue likes to be pricked by the spicy food?!

On Ask a Scientist, I read that spicy foods have a molecule called capsaicin which is the main compound in chile peppers.  It is an irritant that causes a burning feeling.  How sensitive you are to capsaicin will partially depend on what your pain threshold is.  Hm…

Oh and it makes me sad when I get around race day.  I avoid spicy food, but all I want is to eat it!!

Do you dance when you go to concerts or just stand around?

It sometimes depends who I am with.  I love dancing!  Sometimes I’ll just bounce around.

Did you have bad eating habits?

Yup.  Still do at times, but I give myself a break on the weekends! :)

  1. LOVE spicy food. Couldn't handle the heat for years, but craved hot hot hot buffalo wings when I was pregnant and I still can't get enough, even now that my baby is almost 3.

Cambridge, eh? Does that mean you're a Red Sox fan? I might have to de-follow you….
