Yesterday morning I got up early and rode out to Cleveland Circle with Denise to meet a few friends for a bike ride out to Farm Pond in Dover.
When we arrived at Farm Pond, we were so happy to jump into the clear, cool water. We started to swim out past the buoys to go to a small island and back, but the lifeguard whistled at us. We couldn’t go past the buoys due to liability issues. If we wanted to go past the buoys, we had to enter the water away from the beach. I was ok with it because I didn’t bring my goggles! Instead of making it out to the island, we hung out in the water for a bit before heading home. Perfect morning!
The ride home went well, but I could feel my stomach growling. I had originally planned on only doing 40 miles but ended up doing a little more. My legs felt good so I didn’t mind but my right hip is a little sore.
Total Mileage 52 miles
Avg Pace 13.8 mph
Avg HR 127
Denise and I rode to my apartment and picked up Dave so we could go to Dave’s Fresh Pasta. I devoured my sandwich, took a shower, and passed out on the bed. I took a mini half hour nap and then went to the driving range with Dave and Rob. I am participating in a work golf tournament in September and have LOTS of work to do!
Even though I wasn’t amazing, I was pretty happy because I have improved a lot since last year. I actually was hitting the ball and improving on my form! After parting ways with Rob, Dave and I went to Alfresco for me to do some carb loading! I got the salmon special which had fettucini with a creamy basil sauce, scallops and salmon. It was amazing. There was so much food, that I could only eat half of it.
Dave got the sweet italian sausage meal with fettucini… I kind of caught him by surprise with this pic!
What type of thoughts go through your head for a race you have never done before?
I can do this…just breath and have fun!
Are you a golfer? What tips can you give me?
