Bad back?

December 30, 2011

I had a doctors appointment today which ended up turning from a simple physical to a physical, bloodwork, HPV shot AND an x-ray!  Oh my!

I had mentioned how my back has been hurting the past couple of weeks and after my doctor had looked at it, she had said that my back was asymmetrical.  I may have scoliosis!  Eep!  I should hear back soon about the x-ray results and I have a referral for a physical therapist.  Looks like I will be working out my core a lot more to help support my back.

After my morning at the doctor I was glad I had today off and was able to redeem myself by doing some sale searching and see some interesting things which I will talk about next in my three short stories…

Homeless Dancing Man Story

While I waited for stores to open, I was sitting in Starbucks and a homeless man came in and sat across from me.  I was at a family style table.  There was another guy about my age sitting diagonal from me.  The homeless man asked us, “Do any of you want to buy stamps?  I’m selling stamps?”  I kept my head down and continued to be a dork and organize my mail folders…(Yah I am really cool-I’ve been using a lot of my free time lately to organize my life).  Then the homeless man then asked, “Do you want to buy a bag?  I have this cool bag.”  The guy sitting at the table laughed and said, “No I’m ok.”  And got up.  Darn, now I was left with the stamp man.

Luckily Dave was in line and I was just waiting for him to finish.  The homeless man started to sing.  I smiled a little.  Then he started to dance in his seat waving his arms back and forth.  Dave came over, I was talking to him.  And the homeless guy REALLY started to dance in his seat.  Then he got up and left dancing.

His dance was almost (but not quite) as awesome as the Arrested Development chicken dance.

Awesome Song Bonding Story

Dave and I headed off to All Saints Spitalfields.  The song “Somebody that I Used to Know” by Gotye came on as we were checking out and the saleswoman said, “I love this song!” I said, “Me too!!!  My boyfriend makes fun of me because I listen to it on repeat.”  …And then I found $100.  (Teehee, my friend says this after a bad story is told to make it more exciting)  I just get really excited when I have fun interactions with people and have something in common.  Do you get excited about something silly like this?

Friday Night Fun Story

Then, I was in line at Marshalls.  I found a New Balance dry wicking tee for $9.99 (sweet deal!).  There was a pretty long line, but this was a great deal and I was determined to get the shirt.  The wait in the line was all worth it when the woman in front of me said to her friend, “Yah I have to shave so-and-so’s (I’m assuming her husband) back tonight.”  HAHA  I definitely had a huge smile on my face and wanted to break out into laughter, but I refrained.  Sounds like what I want to be doing on Friday night.

Anywho, I think it’s the simple things in life that make me smile.  But isn’t that how it’s supposed to be? :)

Happy Friday everyone!

Do any of you have scoliosis?  If you do, what exercises or stretches do you do?

What is something simple that made you smile or laugh today?
