Recently I was tagged by Travis at the Slow Progress Runner in a game to get to know bloggers.
If you are tagged, you have to tell 7 things about yourself and then tag 15 other bloggers.
Here are my 7 things:
ONE: I am adopted. And no, my reaction was not like this:
I was adopted when I was a baby and proud of being adopted. It wasn’t too difficult for me to tell that something was up…I was asian and my parents were white. I also had the most white name out there. Jessica Miller. Hey I like it. Adds a little confusion. A college lab partner of mine who was half Japanese and half white, stared at me blankly one day and asked, “How the hell did you get your name?!” Read my post on racism!
TWO: I hated running up until 2 years ago. I had tried running track in high school, but hated it. I quit and joined the volleyball. Team sports seemed so much more fun to me. Then as soon as I got out of college I mostly went to the gym and ran only a few miles on the treadmill and mostly because I felt like a fatty when Dave would tell me about how he just came back from the gym. After my first year out in the industry, I decided to try to run a marathon. My longest race before signing up for the marathon was a 5k! After completely my first marathon, Chicago Marathon 2009 (see my post on it!), it was all over after that. Addicted to running for the long haul!
THREE: I get cranky when I don’t eat. My boyfriend, family and friends won’t ever have to worry about me not eating enough. I usually eat 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 2 dinners, and at least 2 snacks in between each meal. I don’t eat really big meals, but try to eat smaller meals. And if I don’t get my snacks in you might as well call me Betty White.

One day I was shopping with Dave and didn’t know we would be out as long as we were. I was ill-prepared and didn’t bring any snacks. I got cranky and Dave brought me to a Starbucks so I could get a snack. He said, “You are like a little kid! I’ll have to bring snacks for you when we go out!”
FOUR: I love gummy bears. I love gummy bears so much that Dave would buy me 5 pound bags of gummy bears from the candy factory nearby his college. One year he bought me TWO 5 pound bags. I was on the computer eating a bag full of them. Then his dad came downstairs and asked, “Can I see those for a second?” I gave him the bag. He walked away, and said “You are going to get sick with how many you are eating!” I had a look of shock, but realized, yes I probably will get sick with the amount I am eating.
PS. Despite how gross they may seem, CHOCOLATE COVERED gummy bears are simply the most amazing thing in the world and you HAVE to try them!

FIVE: I used to have my belly button pierced. In high school I got my belly button pierced. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! Then when I ran my first long distance race, the Cape Cod 14 miler, I forgot to take my belly button ring out. It chaffed and by the halfway point, I noticed I was bleeding! I took the ring out and from then on I haven’t worn one. Bye bye belly button ring!
SIX: I have a deep laugh. Sometimes when I really get a good laugh going, it has a deepness to it. You wouldn’t think it would, but it does. Ironically, Dave’s laugh is high pitched and I often compare it to the noise a seal makes. Opposites attact. Our laughs are a match made in heaven!
SEVEN: I am type super fast. My coworkers sometimes question if I’m actually typing or if I’m just trying to make noise. But I type really loud and fast. Sometimes they know that I’m in because they can hear me typing or walking (I walk really fast and loud too…) Maybe my coworkers should invest in a cool glow in the dark silent keyboard for me and allow me to wear slippers to work!
Well, that’s my 7 things about me!

I remember your post on racism– that was a good one.
I also eat like a machine– the more times per day, the better. I like to do the smaller more frequent meals as well.
I get cranky when I don't eat too! I always have snacks with me or else turn into a beast.
Fun – we have a few things in common!
TWO: didn't even start running until a little over two years ago, unless you count being forced while in gym class. Never did a half (though I intended too) or a 10K, just jumped into the full marathon. In fairness, I did a couple 5Ks and a 10 miler.
THREE: Totally turn into a velociraptor if I don't eat enough. Boyfriend came up with the velociraptor part.
FOUR: Gummibears are great, though I've never had the chocolate covered kind… additionally I'm a stickler for getting the HARIBO Gold bears.
SIX: Maybe not deep, but I have a very distinct/authentic laugh – as opposed to a giggle… hence, if you know me, you can always tell when I'm faking.
Thanks for sharing and continuing the "game!" I've yet to do my first marathon, but I'm leaning strong toward Chicago 2012, so I really enjoyed reading your marathon report. When I got to your time, I was impressed! That's a heck of a run. Thanks for your blog; I enjoy reading it.
Ooh fun list! I'm behind on blogging but I'll have to try this one.
Thanks for the tag!! That was fun…Just did it!
Okay, just finished my post – it's set to go up Monday morning!
