Last night Dave and I went to Bon Caldo with his family since we had gotten them a gift card there for the holidays. It’s an Italian restaurant on Route 1. Dave and I had been inspired to try Bon Caldo because we had heard great things about it on Phantom Gourmet.
To start, Bon Caldo gives you basket full of bread. Some of the bread is sliced thinly and toasted with parmesan cheese that you top with some fresh marinara sauce. Dave and I also got the caprese salad and we all split the fried calamari. When Dave first asked me if I wanted to split the caprese salad with him, I was surprised because he usually likes salads with lettuce. I asked, the caprese not the cesar? He said yes. I was right-he had no idea the caprese was just tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and oils. Regardless, he still enjoyed it and was able to try something new!
For my main dish, I got the same dish I got the first time we had visited this restaurant, the garganelli della nonna which had eggplant, garlic, fresh tomato, basil, smoked mozzarella and garganelli pasta. I barely ate half of the dish!
The flavors are fresh, the pasta tastes homemade (THEY OFFER GLUTEN FREE PASTA!!), and the portions are hearty. Just take a look at that meatball that Dave’s brother got!
After some great carb loading, I was ready for my hip hop yoga class this morning with my friend Julie. I felt like a yogi n00b because I wore my sneakers into the locker room but everyone had left their sneakers at the door. :)
The class was so full, as I am sure many people were trying to get a head start on some new years resolutions. The instructor was great as she went around and asked about injuries and introduced herself. There also was a 10 minute period where she let you do whatever poses you want. Because I’m a beginner, when she first announced this I smiled and was thinking, “This should be interesting…” I watched others around me and repeated some of the poses the instructor was going through prior to this 10 min. jam sesh (I guess it’s like a yoga jam sesh right?!) Overall, the class had a lot of great stretching that made my body feel great. I’m ready for this weeks running!
Did you get a good workout in today?
I loved my yoga class and plan on going for a short afternoon run!
Do you get intimidate when you go to something new? A new sport? A new class?
I do get a little intimidate but try not to let it stop me because I love trying new things. I was glad my friend Julie was there since she’s been to a hip hop yoga class.
