Last night I didn’t have a ton of time to work out. I thought I’d have to have a forced rest day, but I was able to skedaddle from work in time to fit in a session of Jillian Michael’s 30 day shred since it was only 20 minutes. I was happy because it wasn’t actually too difficult for me, but I really need to head to Target to grab some lighter hand weights. I have 10 lb weights, which are too heavy for me for some of the exercises. Some of the squats didn’t hurt my hips, but felt good like a stretch.
After fitting in a quick workout, I headed to dinner with my running girls because one of our running friends Diana is heading off to Texas for med school. I’m kind of bummed because I haven’t seen her much since I have been out of running shape for a while, but I know I’ll see her soon enough. It will give me an excuse to visit Texas! Some of the other girls are going to run the Houston half and full marathon in Texas, but I didn’t sign up since I wanted to be sure I was in running condition. I definitely want to try to go to Texas to visit Diana another time though and race!
Anyway, we went to Park Restaurant and Bar in Harvard Square. It wasn’t too far from the T so it was pretty easy to walk to. When we first got there, we talked for quite a while per usual. Our poor waitress probably was thinking, “Will these girls order already?!”
To start, you are given cheese and house-made crackers. They were pretty addicting…I could have eaten that for dinner. While we were eating the cheese, the girls and I were talking about how amazing it would be to do a cheese tour of anywhere we went.
For my meal, I got the Roasted Scottish Salmon with field green beans, tomatoes, feta and olives. Everything was great. I loved how the salmon skin was crispy and how the green bean salad was cold. I think it made the dish very refreshing.
It was really nice to catch up with some of my girls since I haven’t been going to the running events. I miss being goofy with them and hearing about their lives. I am going to try to make it to more of the post-run meals they have. Maybe being around people who run will make my hips heal!
I want to visit this restaurant again with Dave sometime to give some of the beers and wines a try since they had a pretty good looking selection. I was a little burnt out from this weekend’s wedding and feeling a little slouchy from not exercising as much as usual so didn’t want to indulge tonight.
What workout do you like to do when you don’t have a lot of time to fit one in?
Do you have workout dates with friends? Do you do social things with them after?
