Last night I went to some free sunset yoga with some friends at Fiedler Field (Arthur Fiedler Memorial Head) for the Esplanade Association’s Healthy Fit and Fun program. Last night’s class was hosted by an instructor from Exhale MindBodySpa.
The class was pretty good, but I have to say that my favorite part was the 15 minute shavasana. When the instructor first mentioned that it was going to be 15 minutes, I started to think, “15 minutes?! I can’t lay still for that long.” But…that 15 minutes went by so fast! I felt so relaxed laying there, I felt like I needed to just go to bed right then and there! Sometimes you just need to take that 15 minutes a day just to decompress and do absolutely NOTHING!
I think if I want to really get my yoga on, I like classes indoor better because you have the structured floor and less people watching or puppy watching temptations. But I definitely want to make it out again to another free yoga class on the Esplanade this summer! It feels like during the summer there are so many great free classes promoting fitness and I love it! The Friends of Fort Point Channel are hosting boot camp, Pilates, and yoga classes and some of my coworkers are going to do the RaceMenu Startups Stay Fit free 5k!
Do you have a lot of free fitness classes around your area this summer?
Do you take some time for yourself to decompress everyday?
