In preparation for my decision to give Tough Mudder a try this weekend, I got a massage. I did some research and made an appointment at Be Well Boston. They see a lot of athletes that compete in triathlons, marathons, Ironmans, and more!
Tim worked on me and it was great to get to know him. His favorite distance is the 10k but he also is an avid hockey player and does crossfit. I told him I really can’t wait until I know what is exactly wrong with my hips so that I can try crossfit!
While he worked on my hip, he explained what muscles he was working which I loved because I want to soak in as much knowledge as possible so that I can be a better athlete. A great athlete understands how there body works and what is good and bad for it.
After Tim finished each exercise he would ask me if it felt different. I made sure to tell him where I could tell there was a bit more irritation so that we can really try to zone in on the area that is preventing me from running!
I left the massage with my left hip feeling a little sore but a good sore like after a physical therapy session. I am looking forward to my next appointment not only because my muscles felt great but because there are great people who work there! I met the owner, Jim, who was so nice and you could see the passion he had.
Do you like to geek out and learn about what muscles do what and how they interact together?
Yes! It is so crazy to me how complex the human body is. I took advance bio in school but I really didn’t find it as interesting then as I do now because I have a real world application-running and living a healthy lifestyle. It’s kind of like how I didn’t like running at all while in high school and now it is like my favorite thing to do!
Do you get excited when you meet people passionate about fitness?
Need I answer this? I probably am like a little kid on Christmas!
