Simple Things

July 5, 2012

After my P90X Core Synergistics workout and Dave’s long run, yesterday was a day of pure relaxation.  Dave and I laid out in the sun, read, and then headed to the Country Store where we got some soda, smoked cheese and pepperoni to snack on.

It seemed like the perfect day.  So simple, but satisfying.  I felt guilty relaxing so much, but I have some hectic weeks coming up this summer so I might as well enjoy it before the storm hits!

My legs feel really tight today so I am not biking to/from work.  I may head to a kickboxing conditioning class if I can get all the work I need done, but I might just settle for some yoga at home if I’m still feeling sore.  I’ve actually been debating canceling my regular gym membership since I rarely go.  My friend is going to let me borrow her Insanity DVDs and I might try to do more workouts like these and save money on the gym membership.  Another friend of mine told me about a pool that is close to my apartment, so if I want to swim, I can check that out!  Hmmm…what to do?!

Do you enjoy some of those simple, relaxing days?

Do you have a gym membership or mostly do things at home?

Sounds like a great day yesterday Jess, you are my work out hero! I miss the gym, because it offers a routine, however not having one forces me to try things that I might not normally would have.

I had a gym membership for a few years when we moved up here to CT and I definitely got some good use out of it. It was pretty costly an realized I could save a ton of time and money just doing stuff on my own. I bought some dumbells, already owned the P90x videos, got a bike trainer for Christmas, and haven’t looked back since. I do so many of my workouts outside anyway and if I can’t get a ride or run in due to weather, I just pop my bike onto the trainer and put in some miles. I actually feel like I got into better shape once I quit the gym because at the gym I had a routine that kind of made me plateau. Towards the end of my membership, I was only going to spin classes and doing all my strength training at home. Now I mix it up all the time and get creative!

I think I might do that! It just is a lot of money and I rarely use the gym! I might look into a pool punch card though. I really want to try to get into swimming more!
