Last night I dragged Dave to Target with me so I could pick up a few accessories that I needed now that I am going to quit my gym at the end of the month. My friend Kristina and I who signed up for the gym around the same time have decided that we might try to do workouts on our own or with the aid of videos. I haven’t been to the gym much and if I want to swim I might check out a pool that is a T stop away from my apartment and pretty cheap.
I picked up a yoga block because now that I’m doing more and more yoga at home, I noticed that it will be useful. Some of the poses that I am doing are new and more difficult for me. In addition to the yoga block, I needed some lighter weights for P90x and Jillian Michael’s workouts. I am just not jacked enough to be able to use my 10 lb weights for some of these exercises! Dave told me I should probably get the 2.5 weights, but I gave him the grumpster face and told him I am getting the 3 lb weights.
While these were some instant gratification accessories, I am awaiting my yoga strap and yoga mat cleaner that I ordered on Amazon.com. After yesterday’s YogaGlo IT Band session with Tiffany Cruikshank I realized how useful a yoga strap would be. I improvised and used a towel, but think the strap will be worth the investment.
Now back to work. And just so you know…Dave and I are the first and only people in iYo right now (besides the employees). I’ll be fitting in a short jog-aiming for 2 miles again) and then a yoga session after I get enough work done. I need to give myself something to work for as a reward!
What are some of your favorite workout accessories?
Garmin! I can’t wait until I get my new one! I’m waiting it out until I am running more seriously or get into swimming a little more.
Are you a member of a gym or have you quit your gym to do workouts on your own?
I am kind of excited about quitting my gym. I will miss the ability to go to some of the classes or to use the showers if I need to, but I think this will be a good experience and it will save me some money! I know my blogosphere friend Lauren quit her gym and she said that it helped her save time, money, and get in better shape because she was doing more of a variety of workouts.
