Once the boys finally woke up this morning, we visited the Prairie Bread Kitchen to grab some coffee. We actually ended up coming back here later for lunch and I got the turkey sandwich. I was starving and it hit the spot!
After getting our iced coffee, we started to walk around Oak Park, IL to check out some of Frank Lloyd Wright’s work. There are some tours where you can go inside houses, but you have to pay. We decided to just walk around and do the freebie tour. We had to pick up our friend Rico to drop him off at his flight so we only saw about 10 of the 40 or so houses so Dave and I hope to finish the tour our next visit to see Kurt and Kim!
After we dropped Rico off at the air port, we decided to do something active…TENNIS! It was only the second time ever that I’ve played and I wasn’t sure how it would go. It didn’t go terribly. I was able to hit the ball over, but I need to work on hitting the ball in the court and not getting hit with the balls! One of the times Tom threw the ball over because it was my serve, but it rolled up my racket and then hit me directly in the mouth. It stung a little bit but I just laughed. Then Kurt was hitting the ball from the front half of the court and I was also in the front half of the court. He slammed it pretty hard…but right into my thigh!! I was trying to be careful with my movements and not move too fast because I was worried about my ankle so moving fast to get out of the way of a ball speeding from a close distance was nearly impossible! Kurt felt really bad, but I didn’t mind. It makes me tougher right?
After our workout, Kurt and Kim were so nice and took Dave, Tom and I out to dinner! They brought us to Sushi House where we started with some edamame, takoyaki (fried octopus a batter), and seaweed salad and ended up getting 9 rolls of sushi that we just barely finished. It was all so yummy and I was in a food coma for sure.
But I was not in too much of a food coma to not want ice cream! We headed to Oberweis where I got a peanut butter, banana, chocolate shake. It was so filling and my food coma was complete. This was one of those moments where you had to make sure you are wearing stretchy pants!
The special dinner and dessert was a great way to end a long weekend that went by way to fast. I loved catching up with friends and spending some time relaxing outdoors after our crazy weekend at the wedding and Lolla!
Are you clumsy?
YES. I actually used to get hit in the face with the volleyball sometimes when I played. That could hurt! But surprisingly, I never really twisted my ankle too bad!
What is your favorite kind of sushi?
I like sushi with salmon or any type of tempura!
When was the last weekend you had to relax and catch up with friends?
