I have so much to recap on from the weekend but for now I am excited about my workout last night. My ankle was feeling good and my hips didn’t hurt so I decided to go for a jog. My goal was 2 miles of consistent running but my left hip started hurting a little bit around 1.22 miles and my inner thigh was getting a little tight. I decided to just try to get to 1.5 miles, which I did and then I walked the last half mile. When I got home I did the P90x ab ripper workout which made me think that with all this strength training I am doing, it may be fun to take a before and after pic!
I’m going to take a few day off from running and do some at home yoga or a P90x workout tonight. I am pumped about being able to run a little but don’t want to overdo it! Baby steps to getting back to my normal running self! I am in great anticipation for my first race back!!!
I still have to be careful because when I do certain movements my left hip cracks, grinds and pops! I ain’t no rice crispy treats so this isn’t good! I am still not in training mode, I am now entering the strengthening phase of my recovery, which reminds me-I love the saying, “Strong is the new skinny.”
I don’t know about you, but I think being strong is way cooler than being skinny!
Have you ever done a before and after pic?
I took a before pic a long time ago when I started doing the Jillian Michaels 6 week 6 Pack video-but then I stopped doing the video after a few days!
What is your favorite strength routine?
I’m liking the boot camp and strength conditioning classes I have been going too!

Congrats on getting out for a short jog!! I think your approach is definitely a smart one and focusing on your strength will only make things easier as you start to run more. As heartbreaking and annoying as injuries can be, I think they can also be a blessing because they give us the chance to try new things and find out we love other workouts too!
That is so true! I never knew I would like yoga as much or some of the classes I've done. I think it will make me a smarter athlete too. You always learn a lesson more from a mistake you made, right?!
