iYo yet again and a 30 day yoga challenge!

August 18, 2012

This Thursday Dave and I were supposed to make my fave fish tacos and apple cucumber salsa with some friends but plans fell through.  Dave and I went to dinner at the Greek Corner and both got gyros.  They were a decent size and came with a salad for only $10!  Pretty great steal!

Then I convinced Dave to head with me to iYo right after dinner.  Dave wasn’t hungry for dessert and sometimes gets grumpy that I want to eat dessert right after dinner.  Hello Dave!  There is always a dessert pocket in your stomach!  iYo can get expensive if you load up your dish, but I just feel so much healthier than other places.  Dave did say to me, “Why don’t you put a little froyo with your candy bar?” as I loaded up my dish, but I let that comment slide :)  I think another reason I like iYo is that the environment is cool.  It seems so clean and fresh.  I dare to say it also seems a bit romantic with the candles and high ceilings.

I could definitely use some more iYo after my vinyasa class this morning at Samara Yoga but I don’t think they are open at 9 AM.  I have been doing so much yoga at home and I realized how much I miss going to Rachel’s classes.  I always learn something new in Rachels class and always am inspired to improve my practice.

This morning’s class inspired me to do my own 30 day yoga challenge!  Aiming for this will help me improve my practice but also stretch and strengthen to prepare for when I can run again.  Here are some rules I set for myself:

  • It does not have to be an official class to count as yoga for the day.  I can use routines I find online or videos.
  • I can count a 15-20 minute yoga stretching session as yoga for the day since I may not want to include a full yoga workout if I am doing another workout that day as well.
  • As I think more about this challenge, I may include some more rules/goals for myself!  Hey this is an adaptive process :)

Is there anyone out there who wants to participate in a 30 day yoga challenge with me?!  We can get together a list of everyone and help motivate one another and share workouts! :)

Do you have a dessert pocket?

Have you ever done a 30 day challenge of some sort?

  1. Doing a 30 day yoga challenge is on my list of goals for this year, this is the perfect motivation I need so count me in! :)

  2. Jess I’m in for the yoga 30 day challenge! When does it start!?? :) I want to take you to Sweat and Soul Yoga!!!

  3. I went to iYo for the second time last night and the prices seemed so much more reasonable when I didn't load up my bowl with fruit. I would like to see them offer a smaller sized bowl, though – the ones they have are so big that it's tempting to fill the whole thing with fruit! (I stuck to candy yesterday.)

haha. We should just bring some fruit with us and then throw that on top after we buy the froyo! I wish they had a smaller bowl too! Maybe they will do this later? Though they know how we think..the more space, the more we will want to fill it!

  4. I've been doing yoga a lot… but I rarely do it at home and I'd like to. Maybe this 30 day challenge would be a good place to get me started! When are you planning to start it?

  5. I'm thinking about going back today since my bowl on Friday was 1/3 of the price of my bowl last week. :)
