Sprained Ankle Blues but an Epic Weekend!

August 2, 2012

I stopped by the doctor yesterday to check in on my ankle.  The doctor said it was an inversion sprain that stretched my ligaments but didn’t tear them so I should be hopefully back in 1-2 weeks if I take care of it with lots of RICE (Rest-Ice-Compression-Elevation).  I was happy it wasn’t a torn ligament but I was still pretty bummed because this puts a damper on a lot of the yoga poses!  I am really limited in what I could do for a workout now so last night I did the P90x ab ripper routine which was tough but felt awesome!  Maybe all these injuries will help me get that core that I want! :)

In the meantime…something to be excited about…Dave and I are heading to Logan airport tonight!  Why?  Because we are headed off to Chicago for a wedding.  The wedding is in Milwaukee but we are staying with some friends who live near Chicago then driving out with them.  Guess where the reception is?  The Pabts Blue Ribbon Brewery!  So not only are we going to get to dance our butts off but we will be hanging out with college friends…technically they are Dave’s college friends…but since our 9 year anniversary is this September and I visited Dave all throughout college…let’s face it-they are my friends too!

After the wedding we have tickets for Saturday and Sunday at Lollapooza at Grant Park in Chicago.  I am so pumped for this!  Dave and I get to see one of our high school friends who I haven’t seen in FOREVER!  And if this isn’t enough, we have Monday to wander around the streets of Chicago and eat at all the amazing restaurants that we miss (that is if my ankle and foot aren’t in too much pain).

…Fun fact.  Did you know that I almost worked out in Chicago?  I actually accepted a job out there before Dave had accepted a job.  Then Dave found out he got a full scholarship to grad school.  What a dilemma!!  Dave and I had been long distance-me in Boston and him in the Chicago area!  Now it was to be flip flopped!  I wasn’t really feeling this long distance gig anymore, so I crawled back to a firm I had turned down an offer to and asked if they were still hiring.  Lucky for me, I must have really set an impression them because they hired me and I have been working there ever since!

Anyway…time to get this party weekend started!

What are some things you try to get done when you are in recovery mode?

Is it bad that the first things I do are research on how not to get injured like I did and future race planning?

What is one fun fact about you?
