For those of you who don’t know, Dave is still in school. He is working on his PhD and doing a lot of research. Yesterday he had to go out in the test van with some of his classmates to collect data. Dave warned me that he might be grumpy when he got home if the test didn’t go well. So when Dave called me at 9 AM I got a little worried and answered the phone with a, “Is everything OK?!”
Dave said everything was ok, but he needed some help. He and his classmates were out by my work and needed some sort of plastic bags to protect the sensors on the van. It was POURING out and they didn’t want the sensors to get damaged. I didn’t really have any plastic bags around, but I knew some people were going to be out for the day so I wandered around swiping their trash bags. I met Dave to pass off the bags and then he was on his way.
About 5 minutes later I get another call. I didn’t know what was up but Dave asked, “Was there trash in the trash bags?” I immediately smiled and broke out into laughter. I didn’t THINK there was trash in the trash bags…but when Dave asked that question, I knew that there WAS trash in the trash bags. Once I got the giggles out, I said, “No…I don’t think so?” He said he found a half eaten sandwich in the bag! bahahaha. We hung up and then I got back to work. Not even a minute later, Dave texted me saying that the girls he is working with were wearing the bags on their heads to try to protect their hair from the rain but then they found out that there was some gum in the trash bag! I got a kick out of this. Thankfully they didn’t get any gum in their hair!
I realize it is silly for me to be entertained by this, but it’s the simple things in life that make you smile that are important, right?! Like when I was away this weekend and Dave texted a picture of what he ate for dinner…a hot dog sandwich…
What is something that made you laugh this week?
