Hurricane Sandy put a damper on our weekly Healthworks Workplace Warrior personal training with Heidi tonight, but Erin and I weren’t going to let that stop us! We headed to the Cambridge location to try out the Urban Rebounding class- an aerobic conditioning workout on mini trampolines! Because we are on the trampolines it is a low impact workout-perfect for my hips! Plus-who wouldn’t want to jump on a trampoline like a little kid?!
BUT this workout was not one that a little kid would do! Katie Sa, the instructor, showed us how to get it done!
Katie (in the blue tank) introduced the class explaining that though jumping on the trampoline is fun, to really get a good workout you push more than actually jump (if that makes sense). Throughout the class she was really enthusiastic and got us clapping to some of the moves. She even got me laughing pretty hard. There was a move where you kind of look like you should be in the Thriller music video so she said to get into our Halloween spirit as she made a creepy face. Loved it! I even made my own Halloween face to join in on the fun!
As I am participating in more classes, I’m challenging my coordination skills which I have very little of. This class is not an exception to this challenge. I had some trouble getting the moves and timing with my bounces but with more practice I’ll master it! Some tips if you do take this class-don’t eat or drink too much before! It will be jumping around in your tummy if you do! Erin regretted eating that breakfast sandwich before the class because it was bouncing around just as much as her!
I’m hoping to make it to this class again but before I do I’m going to try to get myself to new classes before I repeat any! I am determined to make the most out of my month Healthworks membership!
Do you find yourself having fun while working out?
I love running and yoga but some of the Healthworks classes have been more fun because they are so different to me. I loved the cardio strike class, urban rebounding, and can’t wait to try more!
Have you ever done an urban rebounding class?
This was my first time! Dave was trying to be a smart one when he said, “Did you just go to the basketball court out in the city and rebound other people’s shots?” I’d like to see him get up on that trampoline! 🙂
