Last night part of my team went to work it out at the Back Bay Healthworks. Sam, Ewelina, Emma, Rosemary and I were headed to Bootycamp (it really is called that!) while Erin headed into her first free drop-in class-the Essential Reformer Plus. I was kind of a creeper and snuck a picture of her as she was working out. Then we caught up with Erin as she was stretching on the spider web contraption. I kind of just want to crawl on top of it and act like spider woman-but I’ll save that for another day.
My girls and I headed to the treadmills to get a warm up half mile and then to get our butts kicked. Literally-we did butt kicks! We got to the class and did high knees, butt kicks, squats with the weighted bars, jumping jacks, burpees, bridge kicks, bridge presses, push ups, stairs, jump lunges, a whole ton of ab work and few other moves that I can’t quite remember! All I know is that my body is feeling it this morning and this class was a great high intensity interval training (HIIT) and cardio workout for sure!
As Erin said, our team is definitely in full effect! We are ready to compete! We had a few of the other team’s member in our bootycamp and have been tweeting with some of the members of the other team so we can feel the pressure! But even though we are competitors, maybe we will do a meet up sometime with another team and do a group workout! I love meeting new friends!
What’s up next? Tonight Emma and I are headed to our very first Body Pump class where you use barbells to strengthen all muscles and include some cardio step work. Sam and Rosemary are trying out the pilates Jump N Sculpt on the reformer, which is a fast-paced, interval training using the jump-board, short & long box, weights and bosus to get in a good mix of plyometrics, cardio, core and sculpting.
I know after this week of working out I am going to need a recovery day tomorrow so I’ll probably do some yoga with YogaVibes and maybe ride the stationary bike or the elliptical at a comfortable pace at Healthworks.
What are your favorite recovery day workouts?
In all honesty, my favorite recovery day workout is SLEEP! But if I had to choose, I would say yoga! Though I don’t mind a swim every so often, but not TOO often!
Have you ever felt faint or sick during a workout?
I have felt faint before and it was often due to lack of sleep, food or hydration! Though sometimes I think I have tried working out when I had a cold…didn’t end so well. I think I got sicker!
