Somerville Jingle Bell Run – My First Race Back!

October 24, 2012

I decided to sign up for my first race back-the Somerville Jingle Bell Run!  Dave and my friend Rob are running it with me!

I haven’t run more than 2.5 miles an am not running very consistently but I have faith that the Healthworks Workplace Warrior Challenge is going to build my strength back so that I can complete this 5k!  Also, this 5k is pretty much right in front of my apartment so why not?!

Some things I need to keep in mind:

  • I will not PR at this 5k
  • I should focus on running a comfortable and consistent pace
  • Must wear a fun outfit and have FUN!
  • Try not to think of it as  race-think of it as a goal to get my body ready for running.  This means I need to be consistent with my strength and stretching!

Are you around then?  Join me on my first race back!

What was the longest you have been out of commission?

I am approaching 6 months of not being able to run/train.  I have been jogging a mile or 2 just recently though so I’m glad to slowly get back to it!

If you have been injured, how did you prepare for your first race back?
