Let’s just say this is my team after our Healthworks Workplace Warrior Challenge personal training session with Heidi…
We were all EXHAUSTED! And let me tell you how we got to this state! We started out pretty easy with our 0.5 mi warm up on the treadmill. Oh hai Erin!
But then we got straight into our intense cardio circuit. We did 1 minute of jumping jacks, a minute of 4 x jumping jacks and 4 x burpees, and for the last minute we added 4 squats after the burpees. This was tough, especially since I had CrossFit this morning and did 51 burpees!!! Whaaat?! I was pretty burpee-ed out.
Good thing we moved on to a strength circuit. It was pretty much a blur maybe because I was partially just trying to go to my happy place-all I remember that happened next was the treadmill hill intervals. We started at an incline of 7 and moved all the way to 10 to do 45 seconds of sprinting. To be honest the girls and I didn’t even know that the treadmill incline went as high as 10! I was pretty sure that I was going to slide off the back of the treadmill. No fear-I didn’t fall!
We still had another strength and then cardio circuit. But I think my favorite move was in the strength circuit when we did plank and then alternated lifting a weight. The goal is to keep your core and hips stationary. I was really excited because I could tell that my hip strength is improving drastically! Helloooo marathon training you may be in my near future! OK not near future..but I see the light at the end of the tunnel. For you new readers, I had a hip overuse injury after Boston Marathon and have been out of commission since! Pardon my goofy face, this picture was actually post-workout and my muscles were jelly!
Another toughy was when we had to start in downward dog and transition to high plank. From there you did a chatarunga push up, back to downward dog, and REPEAT! Here Aki the Yoga Ninja to show you her great form!
Heidi didn’t let us forget that we had to work on our core. Besides having to do sit ups with a weight to do a press, but we had to do a V-up that made my abs burn. Ewelina, the Racewalker, demonstrates this move for us.
I think we all have to agree that we worked our butts off and are well on our way to winning this challenge! The girls and I have our week jam packed! I’m particularly excited to try out the Burn class Wednesday morning and the Barre class this Thursday night!
PS. I have to mention that while I was in the locker room I heard someone yell out, “Little Miss Runshine?!” It was Kate from Healthworks who works in the marketing department! I was a little taken aback because I’m not used to too many people recognizing me! So I probably sounded like a blabbering weirdo, but I was super pumped and danced out to my girls to tell them! I felt like a celebrity!
Do you sometimes forget what you even did during a workout?
Yes! I sometimes even forget where I run if I am running a route that I do all the time! I really do escape out of reality when I workout sometimes.
What is your favorite strength move?
