Let’s just say that I have a busy workout week…let’s take a look…
Monday – CrossFit (AM), Healthworks Workplace Warrior Challenge personal training (PM)
Tuesday – CrossFit
Wednesday – Burn
Thursday – My first Barre class at Healthworks
Friday – Healthworks Tabata Core and Vinyasa Yoga
Saturday – Healthworks Body Pump, quick yoga sesh at home
Sometimes I don’t fully think through how sore I will be after my workouts and this was one of those times. I definitely was feeling it in my arms and hips/piriformis. With my body feeling the workouts from the prior days it was definitely tough to get motivated to go to my Wednesday Burn class because my Burn class wasn’t just any old class-it was a 6 AM class! I’m not going to lie-I considered canceling the class but I had waited too long that it would incur a late cancel fee. I decided to give it a try instead of lose some money. I actually wasn’t even sure that I would make it there in time even with taking the first train but I made it there JUST in time.
The Burn class was a great way to incorporate intervals of cardio (including speed and hill work) and strength. My favorite moves were the plank and the Russian twists with a medicine ball. I’m not sure why but I’ve fallen in love with the plank but I think it is because you can also do planks with everyday objects to make it more challenging and interesting…like an Aki or a breadmaker…
I would definitely try this class again. I’d love to see what different cardio workouts and strengths moves the trainers will incorporate. And guess what?! You are in luck because Healthworks actually has a Burn Challenge coming up that I think both members and guests (non-members) can participate in. It is a series of Burn classes that they progressively get more difficult as your fitness level improves. It is kind of like the Healthworks Workplace Warrior Challenge but it’s open to anyone. Here are some of the details from their website:
Start Date: The BURN Challenge kicks off the week of 11/12, but you can sign up through the 16th of November.
Cost: $99 for Members/Guests (normally $110)
Duration: 6 weeks
Stakes: The participant with the greatest percent change and most visits during the six weeks WINS their next 6 week Small Group Training for FREE
Extras: Each participant will have 1 make up session in their back pocket if they miss the week of Thanksgiving (or any week). Even if you’re traveling, you can make it work!
I would definitely consider this as a possibility of my next challenge! It is a little expensive, but when you think about the price versus what a group personal training session might cost-it doesn’t seem so bad. It would be a great way for me to improve my strength and cardio to get back into my running self! I’ll have to think about it!
What is a recent challenge you have done?
What is your next challenge?
I haven’t figured it out yet! Give me some ideas to add to the list!!
