I’ve been to the BURN Fitness South End location a while ago but haven’t been back since it is a little bit out of the way for me. BURN recently reached out to me to check out their new location and they were kind enough to let me bring a few coworkers to see what their classes are about for free!
Power Burn Class
We attended one of their signature classes, BURN Power. The class is intended to focus on strengthening your muscles by pyramid interval sets that have specific body focuses (lower body, upper body and core).
- You will start with exercise 1 for 30 seconds.
- The instructor will explain and demo the next exercise and then you start exercise 1 for 30 seconds and immediately go into exercise 2 for 30 seconds.
- Then you get a quick demo of exercise 3. You start exercise 1 for 30 seconds, exercise 2 for 30 seconds and exercise 3 for 30 seconds.
The studio is located at 867 Boylston Street in the studio space that was formerly Life in Synergy. They have 2 showers with some basic shampoo, conditioner and body wash and towels.
They also have small towels (of no extra charge) for you to use during class and locks that you can borrow for your time in class. You don’t have to worry about buying water–just bring a bottle. There is a bubbler to fill up there.
There are 2 studio spaces. One is a little smaller than the other one but they both are decent sizes. Equipment is in good condition and they have mats there you can use if you are taking a class.
My Overall Thoughts
The studio is spacious and has amenities that I find really helpful (showers, towels, water bubbler). I like that it is pretty spacious because I can often times feel claustrophobic in really small studios when you have to wait for class to start. Tip: Get there early! You have to be buzzed in to the studio so if you get there late, you might risk missing your class!
I like how the Power Burn class is structured because you get to improve your form on each move and work all muscle types. This class also includes a few cardio moves to get that heart rate up and you aren’t just focusing on strength. Other classes they offer include tabata, rowing, spinning, Kick It by Eliza and TRX. I am hoping to sometime check out some of the other classes lead by some of my favorite ladies (Erin Bailey, Sarah Gaines, Lena Rakijian, Sarah Dussault) and also finding new favorites instructors!
