I get pretty sweaty when I workout so I typically have to wash my hair which means it feels pretty dried out and worn from me pulling it back into a tight ponytail. Honestly….I feel like this quote is true…”When a girl is working out and tighten’s her ponytail….you know it’s about to go down.”
I had polled Facebook to see who had good hair, skin and nail vitamin suggestions. Jennifer Hanway, who is a Hollistic Nutritionist, suggested that I take a good multivitamin and collagen powder. I really value Jennifer’s advice and ended up investing in some Vital Proteins collagen whey and getting the Poliquin Group Multi Intense vitamin.
I’ve been really great about consistently using the collagen whey (pretty much 5 days a week) but not so much about my vitamin. One of the reasons I have been so good about the collagen whey is because I have been eating a smoothie every day for breakfast when I head to work. I know I need to mix it up but this one is so simple that it takes zero thinking for me to whip up in the morning.
Have I seen results? They aren’t supposed to be immediate. You have to take the collagen for a while to see true results. But I think that it has been helping a bit. I’m going to try to be good about taking my vitamin and also make sure I’m getting other good nutrients in my diet. Check out Emily from Stay Healthy, Stay Happy and her post on Why & How: Adding Collagen to your daily diet and Jennifer Hanway’s facebook post where she explains a little more about why you should supplement with collagen!
Do you have any fun ways you are incorporating collagen? Here’s my go-to simple recipe that I’ve been using:
1 scoop Vital Proteins (I like Vanilla Coconut)
1 handful of spinach
1 frozen banana
Unsweetened almond milk
