My coworkers in NYC were going to TITLE Boxing for a team class last night and it inspired me to check out the Boston location near North Station the same day since I couldn’t be there to join them in person.
I went to a 9:30 am “Kickbox 60” class with trainer Stef. I made sure to get to class 20 minutes early and highly suggest you do too if it is your first time. I knew I would have to sign a waiver and that I needed help wrapping my hands. Wrapping your hands can take a few minutes, so make sure you get there early if you need help too!
I also wanted to purchase some gloves. If you are a ClassPass member, TITLE offers you a discount on the washable gel gloves. They are typically sold for $60 but they sell them for $40. I have a set of cheap gloves I bought a long time ago, but having good quality exercise equipment just makes the workout more fun and inspires me to go more consistently.
Even if I didn’t have the nice gloves, this class would have inspired me to go again. I have to admit–the location is not the most convenient for me to get to because of where I live. I went in to class thinking it would be a one off experience for me trying to pretend I was taking class with my coworkers. Little did I know that I would love the class so much that I will now make that commute! Here are a few reasons why I am going to workout at TITLE…
Friendly and Helpful Staff
Even though I attend a lot of classes, I always get a little nervous heading to a new spot or trying out a new class type. I always appreciate when the staff is so nice that you don’t even think about that. When I asked for help wrapping my hands, Stef jumped to help me and explained it as she wrapped my hands so that I had an idea of what I should do next time.
She heard that I had been to TITLE once before but still came over to give me a little download of the class. I told her to treat me as if I were new since I didn’t know if the classes would vary per location (I went in NYC). She explained the format of the class and also explained some moves I should know for the class. I also really appreciated that she said that if I don’t get a move, not to get too frustrated. Having a friendly, instructor can make all the difference.
Instruction and Demonstration
I mentioned that Stef gave me some personal instruction on the moves I would need for class, but she also was great at repeating and demonstrating the moves before we had to execute them in class. I never felt like I had no idea what to do. She also reminded us to get water if we needed to and didn’t make you feel like you were a wimp if you had to get water!
I like the format of the class. It starts with a warm up and cardio. The next section is 8 rounds of exercises with your gloves on where you box and kick with the bag. Then you move to core and finish up with stretching. The moves will not necessarily be the same the next time you go, but you at least know the format and what to expect. I like having both a little bit of predictability and unpredictability in my classes.
Intense Workout Friendly for all Levels
This class is a difficult total body workout but a workout that can be catered to your fitness level. I believe that everyone should feel comfortable attending a class and working out. Sometimes I like that studios have classes that separate out beginners from advanced. It is nice to give beginners a little more attention and to let the more advanced have the option to do different workouts. I also really like classes that are great for all levels. It gives the newbies the opportunity to observe the others and also feel inspired to work hard to get to their level. I definitely felt inspired in class today to work hard and become a better kickboxer.
Good Workout Music
Music can make or break a workout sometimes. TITLE plays music that makes you want to punch harder and faster. I loved it. Sometimes I like listening to workout music when I work, so I searched Spotify to see if TITLE Boxing had any playlists. I found one by someone and I am definitely going to give it a listen! Might even take some songs for my running playlist!
Anyone else like TITLE or want to try it?
