Anti-Inflammatory Foods

Since I’m avoiding Ibuprofen, my coworker suggested looking up anti-inflammatory foods.  Here’s what I found from About.com Anti-Inflammatory Foods:

Do eat!

  • Fats and oils (omega-3 fatty acids, flax seeds, canola oil and pumpkin seeds)
  • Fruits and veggies (blueberries, cruciferous veggies like brussel sprouts, kale and cauliflower)
  • Protein sources (lean poultry, fish, and seafood)
  • Drink lots of fluids! (Water, 100% fruit juices, herbal tea, low sodium vegetable juice, and low or non-fat milk) – Good

Goodbye Ibuprofen and a Plan

I have stopped taking Ibuprofen. My stomach just couldn’t handle it and it was making me be even less hungry than I already was (with no exercise my appetite was getting a little funky in the first place). I was born to run!

On my commute in today, I started getting into Born to Run by Christopher McDougall.  I haven’t given myself the time to read books lately, and it’s about time!

I want to run faster.

Let’s all be honest with ourselves.  We always want to do something better…whether it is run faster or run longer.  I recently purchased the book Run Faster from the 5K to the Marathon by Brad Hudson and Matt Fitzgerald.  I am already halfway through and excited to implement some of what I learned for my Boston Marathon training.

A New Book!

Unfortunately, Borders on Boylston St. closed.  BUT because it was closing, I was able to get a new book for 40% off…Be Iron Fit:  Time-Efficient Training Secrets for Ultimate Fitness by Don Fink.
