New Balance Falmouth Road Race 2016 Recap and Tips

August 21, 2016 by Little Miss Runshine 2 Comments

New Balance Falmouth Road Race 2016

I have been running in the New Balance Minimus Zero shoes ever since I transitioned to minimalist running.  I also have been lucky enough to run Ragnar Relay with New Balance last year as well as get some cool gear through Eliza (from Kick It By Eliza) since she is an official New Balance Ambassador.

When I saw that Falmouth Road Race was opening up for registration soon and was sponsored by New Balance, I thought it only made sense to see if I could run for them!  I was able to secure a free bib (thanks New Balance!).  I also thought it would be fun for Dave to run so I entered Dave into the lottery and he got in!  #ClassPassChallenge Day 21 – Run New Balance Falmouth Road Race for the first time!

A Few of My Favorite Things from New Balance Reach The Beach Ragnar Relay

September 28, 2015 by Little Miss Runshine Leave a Comment

This is a sponsored post.

I was asked to be a member of the New Balance Reach the Beach (RTB) Ragnar Relay team last year.  Unfortunately, I had to pass on the opportunity because my hips and legs were not ready for the miles.

I was excited that I was asked again this year and here are the 3 reasons why:

  1. I still have a daily hip soreness, but my hips have not been getting worse or hurting more when running/working out.
  2. I have been good about running consistently.
  3. After my gait analysis and running form revamped, I am currently running in the New Balance Minimus Zero v2 and love them!

For those reasons, I said “yes” to joining the team!  Our team finished in 32:33:42 with a 9:42 overall pace!

Processed with VSCOcam

Although there are so many great moments to highlight, I wanted to talk about my three favorite experiences during RTB……

Harvard Pilgrim Finish at the Fifty 5k 2015

July 5, 2015 by Little Miss Runshine Leave a Comment

This past Friday I ran the Finish at the Fifty.  This is always a special race for me because I remember how I felt really sick for 4 days after running it 2 years ago (read more on why here).  Every year I go back I feel like it is an accomplishment!

This year was particularly special since it was my first race with my new minimalist running form I was getting trained in at the Spaulding National Running Center.  I was pumped to see how I felt after so I could also give my PT some feedback when I went back for a check-in….

Harvard Pilgrim Finish at the Fifty 5k 2014

July 5, 2014 by Little Miss Runshine 1 Comment

At first I was a little doubtful that this race would go as planned since we hit some bad traffic.  Despite the fact that Dave and I don’t like the HOV lane because a break down or any small holdup means you are in trouble, we still took it.  And not even a minute after entering the HOV lane, we were at a complete stop for 10 or so minutes.

It was killing me because the regular lanes were moving pretty good compared to us.  But we eventually creeped our way into the regular lanes and got moving pretty good.  Kristina and Ethan picked up Dave and my numbers just in case we had to run to the start.  Then we met up with some friends-some of which who were running their first 5k!…

  • I’ve mentioned this before but I’ve had some great mentors and for that reason I really like to help others be more wise. There’s that saying...smart people learn from their mistakes but wise people learn from other peoples mistakes. I’m excited that I have the opportunity to be a “coach” for 2 awesome ladies at my work and I can’t wait to help them get to where they want to be in their career! Yesterday @katrina_castro and I escaped from the office for our 1:1 to @tattebakery! Have you had one mentor that had really stood out to you? What’s a tip they have given you?

  • Before and after! I took a break from lash extensions for a few reasons...
1-My natural lashes are so fine and weak. The load of the lashes was a lot for them. The lash studio actually recommended that I take a break to let my lashes recover.
2-I know I don’t NEED them to feel confident and strong.
3-I was trying to save money. I don’t really wear makeup in the first place so I wasn’t really saving on makeup-I was spending more.
Although I’m still trying to save money, I wanted to treat myself. We have a pretty intense deadline for the next month and I felt like doing something for me. I feel fancier with long lashes and sometimes want to feel fancy! I used #grandelash and that helped strengthen them a bit and will continue to use it while wearing the extensions. My genetics don’t really seem to allow for long, strong lashes like @dvinesca. He’s got gorgeous lashes by the way and I envy them! Maybe our future children will have them too 🤣. I plan on taking another break after I get a few fills (got a package deal for 3 fills) so my lashes can breathe again and have a break! But for now-I’ll enjoy these beauties! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
PS! There’s a Gilt deal for @risebeautystudio and it’s valid for both new AND existing customers! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • We don’t see our godson Max too often but we try to find events and experiences to share with him when we do. We’ve been trying to start the new year with something. Last year we went to the aquarium and this year was to see #MonsterJam in #Providence! I can’t believe you’re 5! ❤️ Oh and you’re parents aren’t too shabby either 😊️ Happy #SuperBowlSunday everyone! The one game a year I watch 🤣 #patriots #newengland
  • The only way to grow is to do things that you aren’t great at and try to get better. Challenge yourself to get a little uncomfortable. I never thought I’d like or try dance classes but I realized they are something that helps me grow. I have fun, get a good sweat in and challenge myself to get more comfortable and loosen up a bit. I’m a terrible dancer but I will never get better if I don’t put myself out there and try it! Maybe next time I won’t ask the best dancers in the class to be in my insta video! 🤣 thanks @paulamoves for such a fun class today. I can’t wait to get some of my coworkers #dancing with us!! #equinox #cardio #garmin #garminfitness #runchat #boston #womensrunningcommunity #ilooklikeanengineer #engineering #bostonfitness
  • I’m a #GarminAmbassador again!!! 🥳 @Garmin has been a brand I’ve been so passionate about forever! Dave bought me my first GPS watch by them back in 2009 and I was hooked ever since. I love that they are dependable, durable and functional. One feature I just tested out was the @garminfitness Live Track!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The winter months mean darker mornings and evenings. I generally feel safe running but I always try to be cautious because you just never know. @xpatrunner mentioned to me that she loves using Live Track so her husband knows where she is if she’s running early or even on race day. I was excited about this feature and gave it a try. It is really easy to use and I’ve heard it doesn’t use a ton of data.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Check out this feature:
▫️Go to the three dots “more” section of your garmin connect app
▫️Find Live Track. ▫️Share a link via email or twitter and even connect with @strava beacon!
You can have live track start automatically with activities but I plan to only use on specific ones. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
