At my last fill, my lash artist asked if I have taken a break at all. I haven’t and have been getting them consistently since October. She recommended that I take a break so I could let my natural lashes restore themselves.
Since I take really good care of them, I could go 4-5 weeks without fills which meant that my natural lashes grow out and the end of the lash extension is further out from my eye, creating a larger weight load on my lash. When my lash artist told me this, I wasn’t surprised. My natural lashes are so fine and short to begin with, so it made sense it would be good to give them a breather. She said the break could be as short as a week but really however long I felt comfortable.
Dave shot me a reality bullet after I posted on International Women’s Day about being comfortable in my body and questioned me about my lash extensions. I didn’t even think about that until he mentioned it and he was probably right. I shouldn’t just be comfortable with my body but also my lashes. He’s been bugging me ever since I got them because he likes me without them but I just loved feeling so fancy!
It really got me thinking. Although I absolutely LOVE my lash extensions, I might take a longer break and just get the extensions for special occasions. I’ve been really trying to start to save money for our wedding (still no plans yet) and to buy a home, I decided it was time to take a break. Same thing with coaching…I liked having a coach but I didn’t really NEED to do it. Two less expenses each month that I need to worry about.
So you might be thinking…you aren’t going to get them anymore…do I regret getting lash extensions or still recommend them? I don’t regret getting them and I would definitely recommend them! The extensions I got looked really natural and were a lot of fun. Not that I did a lot for makeup in general, I didn’t wear any makeup when I had my lash extensions! I highly recommend Rise Beauty Studio on Newbury if you get them. Their staff is really great and I like their brand. Full Disclosure–I was a brand partner with them for a few months (I still had to pay for lashes but got a discount). I continued to go after my term as a brand partner ended. The great thing about their studio is that they have more affordable rates and the option to have less experienced lash artists who are a lower rate. I adjusted my habits to get less time with an artist so it ended up being around the same rate.
It’s now been a few months without having them and I do miss having them. But even though they aren’t too expensive at Rise compared to other studios, I am glad that I’m starting to save more actively so I can finally plan that wedding and start to have a home of my own be more realistic.
For those of you who have lash extensions–do you ever take breaks? Have you ever gone cold turkey for a while?
