This instructor feature is of Marlie from Kale_and_Krunches. I met her via my last job and am so thankful to have connected with her! She is based in Toronto and recently quit her full-time job in real estate as a director of leasing for over 7 years to pursue a career in fitness! She sends a special thanks to her husband who helped her work up the courage to jump into her passion full-time! And of course to her parents who are her role models–she worked for her dad for 7 years and his passion and drive is contagious while her mom is the most hard-working but humble woman she knows.
How did she know this was the right path for her? She knew she wasn’t happy with a “desk job”. She hated sitting all day and didn’t love the corporate environment. She found her passion when her favorite part of her day was her 6 am workout. She started her transition by teaching spin classes part time. Her end goal was to teach full-time and also start a personal training and health coach practice. I have been to Toronto once but am hoping to head back. I asked Marlie what the most popular fitness classes/workouts were and she Spinning and then bootcamp classes (both classes that I love). Marlie also mentioned that Toronto is very multicultural – each neighbourhood has you feeling like you’re in a different city or even country. They have a massive Chinatown, little Italy, little Portugal, little India, the list goes on.
