After my first class at The Handle Bar, I decided to purchase a 10-class pack to force myself to spin during the week. The Pan-Mass Challenge is fast approaching and I need to get myself into long distance cycling shape.
I had my first class back last night with Tim. Every time someone walked into class, he was good about introducing himself, asking if the person needed help with the bike set up and if they have been to The Handle Bar before.
Oh hey! We match! 🙂
When Tim introduced himself to me, I mentioned that I was training for the Pan-Mass Challenge. He said his class was more like a fitness class workout versus a road cycling spin class. I reassured him that I wasn’t worried about that because I like to mix things up and am not necessarily looking for a class geared towards road cycling.
Tim started off the class talking about the different positions and explaining that when he shouted out a rating from 1-10 it was a perceived resistance and difficulty-not a set number on the dial. Some spin newbies in the class said they were a little confused the first time they went spinning when an instructor was yelling out numbers. They felt more comfortable after the explanation.
The workout was good. It was a different vibe than Elise’s class, but I liked it. Tim was pretty candid throughout the class and did his best to get us all pumped up and hooting and hollering. Some of the songs Tim played immediately got my legs moving faster and I turned up the resistance. I love a good beat and fun song. He definitely introduced me to a new song that I will be adding to my Spotify playlist…Bubble Butt by Major Lazer. He had us sticking our butts back in the saddle while standing up so quite comical. I was imagining that I actually had a bubble butt instead of a pancake butt.
Even though I enjoyed Elise and Tim’s classes. I’m looking forward to trying out some of the other instructors too. I am not one to always try to go to the exact same instructor when I first go to a place. I like to give all the instructors a try to find out which styles I like best and to learn something new.
My next class is next Monday night with Elise. I may try to get Dave to join me too since The Handle Bar is having a bring a date special! If you have been to the Handle bar already and are going again-bring a date for free!
