You might have read that my next running goal is to run the Foxboro 10 Miler. If this is my goal, that means I need to start increasing my mileage! And guess what…this past Saturday I ran FIVE miles!!! Dave accompanied me on this run to give me some moral support and in case I needed help getting home if my hips weren’t agreeable. But I made it!
My inner thighs were still a little tender from Stacey Schaedler’s South Boston Yoga Core Strength Conditioning class, but it was one of of those good soreness that you have to work through. I was so happy that Stacey emailed me to give me some moral support and reassurance that it is just because I haven’t used these muscles before and not because it is my hip injury was being triggered.
After Stacey’s class, I was inspired to purchase some lacrosse balls so that I can fully release some tension in my hips and glutes. I am NOT going to settle to being injury prone when I return to running. I am looking forward to continue discovering muscles in my body that I never knew existed.
This weekend my goal is to run 5 miles again. I am going to do some yoga the same day so that way I am sure to release any tightness that I will create with my run.
What are some of your favorite injury prevention workouts?
Can I just say anything and everything I did in Stacey’s class?! I am looking forward to making a return once I use up some of my deals! I have to stick to my resolutions! My friend Sarah has gotten me hooked!
Do you have any stretches you really like to do with lacrosse balls?
