About me

My name is Jess. I was adopted at birth and grew up just outside of Boston. I’m not really close to my adopted family but am lucky to have been with my fiance and his family since high school.

I graduated from Boston University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and started work at an Architectural/Engineering firm in Boston right out of school. They actually found me from Monster.com and I can’t believe how lucky I was to fall into such a great company.

A year or so in, I was looking for a hobby and my years watching the Boston Marathon got me inspired to try to qualify for Boston. I ran Chicago Marathon 2009 and became addicted to running. I ran 4 more marathons (2 of which were Boston), completed a Half Ironman and then suffered with a hip overuse injury that got me out of running for 3 years.

I took up yoga and fitness classes and decided to take a chance quitting my corporate job to work for a fitness start up in their marketing group. I loved the new experience but after 2 years, I decided I wanted to be an engineer again. I returned to my first job and have been trying to find my balance between work, life and fitness. Even though I decided to go back, I will never regret my decision to try something new.

I have a passion for learning and connecting with others. This blog will be a space for me to keep track of my journey and hopefully connect with some of you!
