Day 1 of Thanks: Kristina Danahy

I realized there are a lot of people out there that have brought me joy at one time or another. I have decided to challenge myself to bring up one person every day for 30 days. It will not only remind me of positives, but let that person know that they have put a smile on my face at some point.

Dave would be too easy to list, so my first day will be dedicated to Kristina Danahy!

I don’t know why, but I always remember my first memory of you is circa 2010 when we were sitting in the MIT lobby waiting for winter track to start. I remember that I was a little intimidated by you at first and our friendship didn’t start right away even though we were in the same little group from our running club. If you asked me back then, I never would have guessed that our friendship would grow so strong.

Ever since getting into running, I didn’t think I would like anything else. But being out of commission due to injury, I was so happy to have you by my side. One of the things I’m most thankful for to you is introducing me to the world of boutique fitness classes and being my accountability buddy for those early morning workouts downtown. I remember getting those texts early in the morning that you were close to my street, then you’d “pick me up” and we’d walk to the T together. It honestly changed my life. I don’t think I would have worked for a fitness start up, had experiences or met people that I have.

You are a constant role model for me as a career woman and mom. I appreciate your support and always being an open ear to my challenges and never making me feel like I’m “behind” in life.
